Look is mainly used to identify the type of leather and the quality of leather grain surface. It is observed that there are obvious pores and patterns on the surface of leather. Although synthetic leather also imitates pores, it is not clear. In addition, the reverse side of synthetic leather has a layer of textile as the base plate, which is used to increase its tensile strength, while the reverse side of leather does not have this layer of textile. This identification is the simplest and practical method.

The second way to identify leather: Smell.

Good quality leather generally has no peculiar smell. All leather has the smell of leather. If there is a pungent peculiar smell, it may be that it is not handled well in the leather making process and the use of some chemical raw materials exceeds the standard.

The third method to identify leather: Film.

Touch the surface of leather with your hand. If it feels smooth (grain surface is processed into thick leather), soft, plump and elastic, it is genuine leather.

The fourth method of identifying leather: Testing.

For leather, carry out the following simple tests. The smell of dermis after ignition is similar to that of hair after ignition, and there are no knots after combustion, which can be kneaded into powder with your fingers; The artificial leather gives off a pungent smell when ignited, and forms pimples after burning.
